Meet The 2005 Team
Our Approach
Our multidisciplinary team includes 7 architectural students, 3 engineer students, 1 landscape design student, and 1 industrial design student. The team is organized into two engineering subteams: the heat pump team and the monitoring and control team; as well as four architectural subteams: architecture design, industrial design, civil structures, and systems integration.
The team took an inclusive approach in reaching its design: all students in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies and the College of Engineering were invited to submit entries to a solar house design competition. Of the 70 resulting entries, 12 were selected as winners; these were combined into seven teams that further advanced the designs. The seven teams presented elaborate proposals in February 2004, and a faculty panel selected as the winning design the project of Brett Moss and Bryan Atwood.
